MINIROOS

PROGRAMS

At Football Smarts Academy, we offer a range of programs for players that fall into the "Miniroos" category. This group includes Under 8s through to Under 11s. 

WEEKLY SESSIONS

WEEKLY SESSIONS are at Karinya in 2026. Term 1 dates are up now. Please enquire if interested. 

​

We will continue to be running sessions at Karinya in Blackwood in 2026 thanks to Sturt Lions FC. Sessions for MiniRoos aged between U8-U11/12 are offered. Players are able to come straight from school and experience football fun between 3.40-4.30 each Monday. Spots are strictly limited to make sure each player gets the feedback they deserve. Get in touch if you are interested.

Term 1  2026: 

​

Mondays 3.40-4.30 U8-U11

Mondays 4.35-5.25 U11-U14

 

There are two major elements of these sessions: 

​

1) Ignition: we aim to help IGNITE or further add to a love of the game. Nothing is more important than a young player loving the game. 

​

​2) Technique: We aim to guide the player towards using the fundamental techniques required to play the game effectively, and to enjoy the game. 

​

Program: Ball mastery, 1v1, first touch, running with the ball, striking the ball (shooting and passing), teamwork. Small sided games are a major feature of the program. 

​

Current players have first right to a spot, please enquire for any other availability. Players who regularly demonstrate a love for the game and willingness to learn can be accepted and keep their spot in the program.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY SESSIONS

Our next school holiday program dates will be in January 2026 for a short Futsal program. See School Holidays.

Our normal outdoor clinics will resume in April.

UNDER 8s - UNDER 16s

Arrival: 8:50am​

Start: 9:00am

Finish 3.00-3:10pm

​

Core skills focus: Running with the ball and first touch, scanning, communication and striking the ball (shooting)

​

Players will always be grouped by ability within age groups where possible to ensure maximum participation, positive learning opportunities and a fun experience for all. Players need indoor and outdoor shoes/football boots. Shin pads are compulsory. Players should arrive having applied sunscreen and also bring a hat and food for the day.

ONE OFF SESSIONS

Please enquire about one on one or a small group of 2/3 with the coach for your child/children. 

Times available can vary depending on coaches' commitments during season. A one-off session is for 50 mins at a time to be arranged. At the end of the session the coach will talk you through a pathway for your child based on their current level. Please bear in mind these sessions are only agreed upon for young players very keen for extra learning, and exposure to football. The best strategy to them learning the game is to keep it fun! Older players should apply by speaking to the relevant coach. 

 

1 player: $75

With 2 players: $45 each.

With 3 players: $35 each.

For longer term bookings of 6 weeks or more for sessions such as these, discounts will apply.
