PROGRAMS
At Football Smarts Academy, we offer a range of programs for players that fall into the "Juniors" category. This group in Australia includes players who are Under 13 and over.
WEEKLY SESSIONS
2026 Term 1 dates are now open:
Football Smarts Academy offers a junior program at the $3m Karinya Reserve build in Blackwood. This will continue in 20256. Contact our email to register your interest and with any questions. If you have missed the start of any term, it (sometimes) isn't too late. Please email and you can be given an up-to-date price and code to register for the remaining weeks.
Program: Ball mastery, 1v1, first touch, running with the ball, striking the ball (shooting and passing), teamwork.
Additions to program (especially useful with severe weather warnings!): VEO review, Blazepods and more.
Term I theme for 2026: Transition.
Term IV theme for 2025: Attacking play: Crossing, finishing, front third.
Term IIII theme for 2025: Attacking quickly through switching and combinations
Term II theme for 2025: Scanning, receiving
Term I theme for 2025: Using less favoured foot + Creativity
Term IV theme for 2024: Pressing systems, Defensive 1v1
Term III theme for 2024: Combination play
Term 1-4 2026 times are as follows.
Mondays 4.35-5.25 U11-U14
Tuesdays 4.20-5.20 U14-U17 (apply to be involved)
SCHOOL HOLIDAY SESSIONS
Our next school holiday program dates are now on website for a Futsal day in December and some days in January. Please see juniors or miniroos events:
Our normal holiday clinics at Karinya will resume in April.
UNDER 8s - UNDER 16s
Arrival: 8:50am
Start: 9:00am
Finish 3.00-3:10pm
Core skills focus: Running with the ball and first touch, scanning, communication and striking the ball (shooting)
Players will always be grouped by ability within age groups where possible to ensure maximum participation, positive learning opportunities and a fun experience for all. Players need indoor and outdoor shoes/football boots. Shin pads are compulsory. Players should arrive having applied sunscreen and also bring a hat and food for the day.

ONE OFF SESSIONS
Please enquire about one on one or a small group of 2/3 with the coach for your child/children.
A one-off session is for 50 mins at a time to be arranged. At the end of the session the coach will talk you through a pathway for your child based on their current level.
1 player: $75
With 2 players: $45 each.
With 3 players: $35 each.
For longer term bookings of 6 weeks or more for sessions such as these, discounts will apply.
MENTORING (Juniors only): Gene is looking to mentor 2 players in season 2024. This can involve Whatsapp chat with parents and player on either Saturday or Sunday - it can also involve video review using VEO. VEO bookings can be made for an extra $50 per game and need the agreement of your coach and opposition coach on the day. The purpose of communication is to provide feedback on any extra ball work they are doing at home, their approach in games and on their strengths and weaknesses. It is to provide an extra person for support if THEY would like to have someone involved in their game. Parents could provide their own video snippets in contrast to using the professional VEO.
